College Park (Ga.) North Clayton prospect Donnell Sanders picked up his first major Division I offer recently when the Virginia Tech Hokies were the first to come forward for the 6-foot-2, 206-pound defensive end. Sanders may also figure as a linebacker at the next level, but his experience up to this point has been on the end of the defensive line where he posted 70 tackles as a junior, 14 for a loss with 12 sacks.

"My specialty is the pass rush," admitted Sanders. "I feed off of adrenaline and my speed allows me to get a good burst off the corner and get to the quarterback. I'm working on improving my strength as I'm not as effective against the run just yet."
Sanders also holds offers from a pair of MAC schools in Kent and Akron, but is receiving interest from a number of other programs such as Arkansas, Southern Miss, Alabama, and Florida. How does Sanders feel about the Hokies at this juncture?
"If I had to commit today, I'd choose Virginia Tech," stated Sanders. "They're a program that knows how to win football games and I like their defensive schemes. I really like the Lunch Pail they carry around for the hardest working player on defense."
Sanders has no preference between playing defensive end or linebacker, but he's more familiar with the defensive end position at this point in time. What else is Sanders looking for in a school?
"Academics are very important to me, I'm hoping to study computer engineering," explained Sanders. "I'll also being looking at the opportunity to play early. I don't need to play my first year, but I'd like to be getting on the field as a redshirt freshman or sophomore."
Sanders is in no hurry to make a decision and will likely wait until after the season and after his five official visits. He'll likely take a few visits over the summer to some of the schools nearby that are a short car ride away.
