It took a while for assistant coach Jeff Grimes to cast out offers. A few weeks ago, Grimes personally sent out a handful of offers to offensive linemen, after scouring film.
Today, Grimes saw one of those offers give him his first commitment for Virginia Tech. Council Rock South (Pa.) interior lineman Eric Gallo confirmed via text message that he's committed to the Hokies.
Gallo, who also had offers from Temple, Buffalo and UMASS, becomes the ninth commitment for Virginia Tech in the class of 2014.
As was first reported by HokieHaven.com, Gallo visited Virginia Tech over the weekend. Leading up to the trip, Gallo said he liked what he'd heard from the Hokies.
"I haven't been there before and I'm excited to see the program, see the school, and get a feel for what the university is like," he said last week. "I'm excited to see it."
Gallo can play both guard and center and will play both this fall during his senior season of high school.
Check back this afternoon for more on Gallo and what his commitment means for the Hokies.
