Muskegon (Mich.) 2017 athlete Kalil Pimpleton may be bound for slot receiver when he arrives in Blacksburg, but the three-star did a little bit of everything for the Big Reds' offense this year. Whether throwing, running, or catching the ball, his production was great enough to earn him the honor of Associated Press Divisions 3-4 Player of the Year in Michigan.

Though Pimpleton's team came up four seconds short of a state championship this fall, he had great numbers: For a Muskegon squad that finished 12-2, Pimpleton completed 35 of 56 passes (62.5%) for 689 yards (12.3 per attempt) and 14 touchdowns. He ran 122 times for 1284 yards (10.5 per carry) and another 18 scores. He also caught nine passes for 183 yards (20.3 per catch) and two touchdowns and returned three punts for 141 yards and three touchdowns.

Primarily playing quarterback in a diverse Muskegon offense, he was one of two first-team selections for all-state in Divisions 3-4, along with fellow three-star Jairus Grissom of River Rouge High School.

The 5-7, 160-pound Pimpleton is considered the No. 21 player in the state of Michigan. He picked the Hokies when they were they first school to offer, though he's also fielded interest from some Big Ten schools, such as Michigan State.
