For a while, it was just a flirtation with Virginia Tech. After all, Trinity Christian (Fla.) three-star wide receiver Isaiah Ford had committed to Louisville in July.
Still, Ford kept in touch with the Hokies and even visited. And when Louisville coach Charlie Strong left for Texas, Ford gave Virginia Tech his full attention.
Ford also considered schools like South Carolina, Florida and even the Cardinals still, but in an announcement at his school this afternoon, he went with the school he'd stayed in touch with. Ford signed his letter of intent with the Hokies, becoming signee No. 27 for the class.
Ford joins a multitude of receivers at Virginia Tech, but after winning a state championship as a senior, he should fit in fine. The No. 67 wide receiver and No. 61 player in Florida, Ford had 37 catches for 717 yards and 12 touchdowns as a senior last fall, along with 200 yards rushing and four more touchdowns. He also threw for a touchdown returned a kick for a touchdown.
But Ford plays basketball as well and will get a chance to also walk-on the basketball team with the Hokies. He was recruited by assistants Aaron Moorehead and Charley Wiles.
