For the past two classes, Virginia Tech has received a commitment from a player at Stonewall Jackson (Va.). For the 2014 class, it was Greg Stroman. For the 2015 class, it was Rivals250 defensive tackle Tim Settle.
Now, make it three classes in a row.
Late this afternoon, three-star Reggie Floyd decided to end his recruitment, committing to the Hokies, then announcing his intentions on Twitter:
Just committed to Virginia Tech

Floyd becomes commitment No. 7 in the 2016 class for Virginia Tech. He's rated by Rivals.com as the No. 28 running back and No. 17 player in Virginia. But with the Hokies, Floyd is set to play free safety. He's also the second in-state commitment, joining Hampton (Va.) athlete Jovonn Quillen, who committed last Thursday.
Floyd was recruited primarily by assistant coach Torrian Gray and chose the Hokies over offers from North Carolina, West Virginia and Wake Forest.
For the 2016 class at Virginia Tech, Floyd is also joined by four-star quarterback Logan Byrd, three-star wide receiver Samuel Denmark and three-star cornerbacks Myles Wolfolk, Kareem Felder and Troy Pride. Floyd will also be participating next month in the Richmond stop of the Rivals Camp Series presented by Under Armour.
