Final two for Steward includes Hokies and Bulls

Jacksonville (Fla.) Ed White 2018 running back Caleb Steward has amassed a number of offers, but only two remain in contention. The two-star will make his choice between South Florida and Virginia Tech.

The 5-11, 195-pounder eliminated Duke, Purdue, and Wake Forest from his previous top five, while several mid-majors had also offered him. He visited Blacksburg just a couple weeks ago, and it was something of a surprise that he left without pulling the trigger for the Hokies. However, the latest narrowing of his list shows there's not much to be concerned about there.

Steward hails from a Jacksonville area that VT's coaching staff is trying to build pipelines in, with wide receiver Isaiah Ford off to the NFL after three years as a Hokie, linebacker Aundre Ricardo-Kearney signed in 2017, and safety Chamarri Conner already committed for 2018.

The Hokies are still looking for a running back commit, with North Carolina three-star Nadir Thompson expected to begin his career in the defensive secondary.
