DJ Crossen ready to commit

Late May and early June aren't always exciting times on the recruiting trail, but they could be for VT this year. The Hokies picked up one commitment last night, could receive another one today, and will be anxiously waiting just over a week to see whether yet another top target will pull the trigger for the Maroon and Orange.

Greensboro (N.C.) Dudley three-star cornerback DJ Crossen will announce his college pledge next Friday.

The 6-2, 190-pounder is the No. 29 cornerback nationally and the No. 18 rising senior in the state of North Carolina. He was a high school teammate of Hokies freshman quarterback Hendon Hooker (who enrolled in Blacksburg for Spring practice), and very close with his former signal-caller.

Despite the connection to Hooker, Crossen selected North Carolina over the Hokies last August. However, he decommitted Jan. 26, and took multiple visits to Blacksburg in the time since, including for the biggest visit date of the off-season to date, the April 15 weekend. The Heels and Hokies are the finalists once again, and Virginia Tech partisans are certainly hopeful - especially with a friend potentially joining the fold tonight - to see him don the right colors this time around.

His decision will be 4 p.m. June 9 at Dudley High.
