DJ Crossen is a Hokie

Virginia Tech has commitment No. 10 in the Class of 2018. It's Greensboro (N.C.) Dudley three-star athlete DJ Crossen.

A onetime North Carolina commitment, he picked VT over the Tar Heels in a ceremony at his school. Crossen is a 6-2, 190-pounder who is expected to play cornerback when he arrives in Blacksburg. He is ranked the No. 38 athlete nationally and No. 19 rising senior in North Carolina.

Playing alongside quarterback Hendon Hooker (who then enrolled as a member of VT's 2017 class in January), Crossen helped lead the Dudley Panthers to a big season, culminating in a state title in North Carolina's 4A division. The newest Hokie caught three passes for 135 yards (45 per catch) and three touchdowns on offense, and returned two punts and a kickoff for touchdown. Despite scoring every time he touched the ball in those phases, he was at his best defensively. He made 64 total tackles, intercepted three passes (returning them for 123 total yards and scoring on each of them), broke up 12 more passes, and forced and recovered a fumble.

Crossen joins Braxton Clark, Chamarri Conner, and Nasir Peoples as future defensive backs in the class, with Conner and Peoples more likely to be safeties while Clark and Crossen will play corner. The tenth overall pledge in the class brings the group to No. 24 nationally, just ahead of UCLA.
