Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith 2018 linebacker Keshon Artis has planned to make his college commitment after all three official visits, and now that he's seen Virginia Tech, NC State, and Central Florida in-person, the day is here: the three star will make his commitment this afternoon.

The Hokies, Wolfpack, and Knights are the final three schools remaining for the 6-0, 227-pounder. Ranked the No. 22 senior in the state of Virginia, Artis is a three-star prospect.

Virginia Tech has long been on the list of favorites for Artis, whose other scholarship offers include the likes of Duke, Indiana, Tennessee, and Virginia. For a while, it looked like the Hokies may not be in position to take three linebackers in the 2018 class, but with Alan Tisdale already in the fold and four-star Dax Hollifield still on the table, their pursuit of Artis hasn't slowed down a bit.

They'll find out their fate with him at 2 p.m. today, with the standout announcing his commitment on his Twitter account. He took official visits to Blacksburg (Oct. 28), Raleigh (Nov. 4), and Orlando (Nov. 11) within the past month.

While Oscar Smith has been a consistent producer of talent for the Hokies in the past, only pair of redshirt sophomores on the current roster - running back Deshawn McClease and wide receiver Sean Daniel - hail from the Tidewater-area powerhouse. Artis would add a third, and also be the third in-state player in the 2018 class, joining local running back Cole Beck and fellow 757er Armani Chatman. The Hokies are still pursuing tight end James Mitchell and offensive lineman Luke Tenuta to hopefully continue shoring up in-state recruiting.
