Collins picks the Hokies

According to the Fredericksburg Free Lance Star, Virginia Tech landed commitment No. 21 today in defensive end Lanford Collins. The Stafford (Va.) Brooke Point prospect gave his pledge to the Hokies over interest from Virginia and Penn State.

Collins officially gave his commitment two days ago. He was planning to hold off until Signing Day, but released the news early.
Collins posted 54 tackles, 14 for loss and nine sacks as a senior on his way to first team all-district and first team all-region honors.
The 6-foot-4, 240-pounder is coming off of an official visit to Tech this past weekend.
A three-star prospect that is rated the No. 20 strongside defensive end in the country and No. 17 prospect in Virginia by Rivals.com, Collins possess explosiveness off the line, good speed, athleticism and aggressiveness.
