After just one week as a Volunteer, Cape Henry (Va.) four-star forward Chris Clarke has already had a change of heart.
Today, Clarke has announced he's flipped his commitment and committed instead to Virginia Tech. The news was first reported by Matt Hatfield of VirginiaPreps.com.
Clarke, No. 59 in the Rivals150, chose the Volunteers last Thursday out of a top four that also included the Hokies, Connecticut and Creighton. He held an announcement at his school to reveal his initial decision, but has now decided to switch his commitment to Virginia Tech.
Clarke was recruited by Hokies coach Buzz Williams and assistant coach Isaac Chew and gives Virginia Tech a huge addition to conclude its 2015 recruiting class. Clarke joins Evans (Fla.) power forward Kerry Blackshear, No. 110 in the Rivals150 and St James School (Md.) three-star point guard Justin Robinson.
Clarke is the highest-ranked recruit int he Rivals150 to commit to the Hokies since Norcom (Va.) forward Dorian Finney-Smith, who was ranked No. 31 in the Rivals150. Finney-Smith transferred to Florida after just one season.
Check back for more complete coverage of Clarke's decision and what it means for the Hokies.
