Chatman's recruitment nears its completion

A onetime LSU commit, Rome (Ga.) 2019 defensive end Jamarcus Chatman will make his decision in the next week.

In preparation, the three-star named his final four schools earlier this week. Florida State, Miami, and North Carolina - along with Virginia Tech - make the list.

Chatman will take his official visit to Miami this weekend after seeing Florida State last weekend, Virginia Tech immediately before that, and North Carolina the opening weekend of the contact period in mid-January.

Chatman is a former teammate of rising redshirt freshman linebacker Jaylen Griffin, giving the Hokies a serious chance, even though they're a relatively late entry into his recruitment - at least as a serious contender. However, with the pickup of three-star DE Jaevon Becton earlier this week, the room in the class is rapidly diminishing.

His best relationships seem to be with coaches from the two Florida schools, and his official visit to Miami this weekend - which began yesterday - could be a major step in making his final decision. He intends to announce a commitment on Signing Day next Wednesday.
