Cam Goode narrows his list

Virginia Tech is looking for defensive tackles to complement committed Joe Kane, and Washington (D.C.) St. John's three-star Cam Goode could fit that bill. He narrowed his list of options to eight yesterday, with Virginia Tech making the cut.

Arizona, Indiana, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Temple, and Virginia also make the cut. Boston College, Syracuse, and Wake Forest are among the programs that have offered, but are no longer in consideration.

The 6-0, 315-pound Goode is a true space-eater who could play the nose position, complementing a more penetrating three-technique tackle like Kane (and, if the Hokies have their way, another penetrator in Alim McNeill). The No. 60 defensive tackle nationally and No. 7 rising senior in D.C., Goode has not announced plans for further narrowing his list, and admits that new entrants to his recruitment will still get a chance.

He is a relatively recent offer for VT, picking up the honor in February, though he has been on the recruiting radar for quite some time and hails from a Hokie pipeline area in the DMV. He has visited since the offer, helping keep Virginia Tech high on his list.
