Just 10 days from its season opener, it's still an uncertainty as to who Virginia Tech's starting quarterback will be. The only thing certain at this point is that the starter will be either Texas Tech junior transfer Michael Brewer or senior Mark Leal.
Offensive coordinator Scot Loeffler has been coy about the decision and sidestepped when it might come. The Hokies will be holding their final scrimmage Friday, but even that might not be a definite decision date.
For Brewer, though, it isn't adding any stress, at least not that he's conceding.
"You can't think about what you did yesterday or what's gonna happen tomorrow," he said. "It's what's gonna happen today and what can you do today? It's not focusing on what other people are doing and just focusing on what you can control and continuing to improve in the offense, continuing to learn the offense and make plays when they present themselves."
For Brewer, the overall transition to Virginia Tech has been a relatively smooth one. And should he officially win the job, he's ready for it.
"I feel good about where I'm at," Brewer said. "Everything that we've installed I feel comfortable with. If we had to play today, I'd be ready to go out there and perform."
Below is Brewer's full interview with the media this morning:
