Orlando (Fla.) Dr. Phillips athlete Braxton Clark has been verbally pledged to Virginia Tech since early summer, but that doesn't necessarily mean his recruitment is completely over.

He still considers himself a commit to the Hokies, but a handful of new schools have offered Clark recently and he plans to take several official visits in January. Some of the colleges that have recently tendered him scholarships are Nebraska, Missouri, Central Florida, Colorado State and FIU.

"At the moment, it doesn't affect my commitment to Virginia Tech right now," Clark said. "I'm signing in February and I plan on taking other trips. It's something for me and my family to figure out, but I will probably take three [visits] next month.

"There have been a lot of schools coming at me, and I can tell you who has been showing me a lot of interest recently. That would be Nebraska, Missouri and UCF. I haven't taken one official yet."

Clark is planning to take his first official visit to Virginia Tech when the NCAA dead period ends.

Clark was asked how his Nebraska scholarship offer came about, and he replied:

"I just started talking to [the Nebraska coaches] recently, like this week; and I used to talk to them when they were at UCF," Clark shared. "They offered me as a cornerback."

There are certain criteria and traits Clark is looking for in a college football program.

"If I can play early, the coaches and how they interact with the players and generally care about them, and the education there," Clark stated.

"I think I do multiple things well as a football player.I feel like I can play free safety and corner -- whatever the team needs."
