The mistakes that led to Virginia Tech's 13-10 loss to Duke Saturday speak for themselves. The Hokies had a touchdown negated by penalty, missed two field goals on the leg of senior kicker
The Blue Devils made mistakes as well that Virginia Tech simply couldn't capitalize on, like no completed passes in the second half and converting none of their 11 third down attempts.
Coach
"I think all of us had our moments," he said. "When you lose like that, it's not any one person, it's all of us together. There's not a single guy on our football team or our coaching staff that couldn't have done something better to help us win that football game. Logan and Coach Loeffler will work through what was good and what wasn't good. You know this, Logan, he really cares about this football team. He really wants it to do well. We've just gotta continue to be good around Logan, that's the deal we've gotta do."
This week, the Hokies travel to Boston College, for a noon kickoff Saturday. It's a Golden Eagles team that has traditionally played Virginia Tech well and that nearly knocked off Clemson earlier this season.
The sentiment at today's press conference for the Hokies is that the locker room was a somber one after Saturday's loss and the mood was still down yesterday. That's fine with Beamer, who's now looking to see how his players will respond.
"I'd be disappointed if they weren't down," he said. "It was a disappointing loss. But at the other side of it is let's find out what went wrong, figure that out, let's get it right and go try to play better this week. We're gonna have to. Without question, we're gonna have to."
