One of Virginia Tech's top 2019 hoops targets is finally ready to come off the board. Point guard Anthony Harris will announce a commitment at 3:00 p.m. today.

The 6-3, 185-pounder from Fairfax (Va.) Paul VI is a four-star ranked the No. 69 player and No. 9 point guard nationally.

He was expected to choose between Virginia Tech and Wake Forest in mid-September - his official visit to Blacksburg came the Sept. 7 weekend, for the football game against William & Mary - but took a quick step back before officially narrowing to that final two. He took an official visit to Duke over the weekend, before receiving an offer from the Blue Devils. If Coach K and Co. changed his offer status, Harris certainly didn't publicize it.

That means either he picked up a Duke offer without telling anyone, or Virginia Tech is in very good shape this afternoon.

Harris would be the first Class of 2019 commitment should he pick the Hokies. Buzz Williams and his assistants have been off to a slow start in the group, exacerbated by the departure of top recruiter Steve Roccaforte this Summer. Picking up a player like Harris would be a huge beginning to the group, and allow the staff to target other big fish to complement an excellent point guard.
