Cunningham's A Hokie

A year after not having many options at tight end, Virginia Tech keeps adding more.

Tonight, on his Twitter account, Atlantic Coast (Fla.) three-star tight end Chris Cunningham announced he'd be the newest addition, giving his commitment to the Hokies. Cunningham chose Virginia Tech over his other finalist, Louisville.

Cunningham had 18 offers, which also included Central Florida, North Carolina, Maryland, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Oregon State, Purdue, South Florida and Western Kentucky. He announced a top three of the Hokies, Cardinals and Knights last week.

Cunningham visited Blacksburg unofficially July 27, two days after unofficially visiting Louisville. The Virginia Tech visit helped seal his decision, even though he postponed his decision from a week ago, to visit UCF. But he never made it to Orlando over the past week.

"I like the overall environment and it just felt like a second home at Virginia Tech," Cunningham told HokieHaven.com.

The Hokies now have 11 commits in the class of 2015 and two on offense, as Cunningham joins Oscar Smith (Va.) three-star running back Deshawn McClease. Cunningham was recruited by assistant coaches Charley Wiles and Bryan Stinespring.
