For the 20th straight year Virginia Tech has had at least one of its players drafted. This time, it was two.

It took until the sixth round, on the third day of the NFL Draft, but with pick No. 171, wide receiver Corey Fuller was selected by the Detroit Lions. Two picks later, the Denver Broncos selected offensive lineman Vinston Painter. Both were first-time starters as fifth-year seniors last fall.

Fuller had 43 catches for 815 yards and six touchdowns last season while starting eight of 13 games. He spent just two seasons with the Hokies, walking on after transferring from Kansas where he was on the track and field team. He had just two catches for 19 yards as a junior in 2011.

Fuller played last season with his younger brother Kyle Fuller, who is expected to start at cornerback as a senior this fall for Virginia Tech. Their older brother Vincent Fuller, also a former Hokie, was drafted in the fifth round by the Tennessee Titans and played seven seasons in the NFL. Their younger brother, Kendall Fuller, is a five-star cornerback who will join Virginia Tech this fall as a true freshman.

Painter was selected at No. 173 and started all 13 games last season at right tackle. A former four-star recruit, No. 126 in the 2008 Rivals250. He struggled to get any traction through his first four years at Virginia Tech, but at 6'4" 309 pounds, he came on strong and impressed scouts at the NFL Combine in February.

Check back tonight for more on both draft selections.
