Bayou Jamb 2012
For the seventh consecutive year, the campus of ULM was invaded by Bayou Jamb. The home of the Warhawks, Malone Stadium, played host to a trio of state champions from last season as the area's tops schools matched up for the annual kickoff to the football season. This year organizers setout to break the record attendance from last season and succeeded with 33,640 fans filling the stands throughout the day for the event.
NEVILLE vs. WEST MONROE
The battle of the 5A and 4A state champions from last season West Monroe and Neville, respectively, closed out the seventh annual Bayou Jamb. After the two teams traded punts, a blocked field goal ended the first half with Tory Moore returning it 70 yards to put the Rebels of West Monroe on top 7-0. Junior Steven Jones then took over exploding for a 66 yard score. Jones ended the night with nine carries for 108 yards. Rivals 4-star rated quarterback John Diarse showed his senior leadership as he connected on 14 of 20 attempts for 147 yards and one passing TD to Marqueze Gulledge from 28 yards out to pull within seven. Diarse looked to lead his team on a final drive, making it to mid-field before time expired.

BASTROP vs. OUACHITA PARISH
A back and forth battle between the Bastrop Rams and Ouachita Parish High Lions came down to one simple area, special teams. The Rams struggled in the kicking department, forcing them to go for 2-point conversions, while the PATs of Jake Blake propelled the Lions to a 21-20 win in Saturday night's Bayou Jamb game. Ouachita was led by senior Diquan Wilson's dual threat of passing 7/14 for 69 yards and a score and nine carries for 107 yards. Bastrop kept the contest close on the air raid of senior Jaetarius Davis to junior Jamari Payne. Payne tallied seven receptions for 160 yards and a TD.

OUACHITA CHRISTIAN vs. OAK GROVE
Class 1A state champion Ouachita Christian opened up the 2012 season just how 2011 finished, on fire with a 34-6 win over Oak Grove. Junior quarterback Quinn Graves tossed a pair of first half touchdown passes to push the Eagles to a 27-0 halftime lead, before giving up the duties to senior Braden Bristo, who spent the first half at safety, and the second half playing both ways. Bristo added an 11 yard TD run from the QB position and captured the game's MVP honors.

WEST OUACHITA vs. STERLINGTON
In the opening contest, Sterlington High returned to their roots in the triple option to cruise past the West Ouachita Chiefs 20-7. Senior quarterback Taylor Lockwood looked comfortable in the new offense, as he also threw a nice fade route in addition to commanding the offense.
