UW Basketball Offers Roberts

First year UW head coach Larry Shyatt says his staff is eager in moving toward the 2012 class and hopes to ink prospects during the early signing period in November.

The Cowboys inked four high school players and one transfer during the spring signing period. Shyatt's staff will have at least five available scholarships for 2012 with five scholarship players graduating.

Shyatt with his connections in Florida already has offered a local prospect in Cleon Roberts, a 6-foot-4 and 185 pound shooting guard who stars at Miami Norland High school.

Roberts was ranked by as a top 35 player at his position. He is also listed as a Rivals150 member which is given to the top 150 senior basketball players in the country.

Roberts has received offers from Georgia Southern and South Carolina, along with the Cowboys extended offer. Louisville, Western Kentucky, Alabama and Miami are also recruiting him and have seen him personally.

A streak shooter from the perimeter, Roberts can be an effective offensive player when he plays with agression and focus on the court.

He has good length and excellent athletic ability to go along with his good offensive skills. The 6-foot-4 guard finishes well in the paint and moves well in transition, and a good ball handler and passer.

The guard prospect will need continue to add muscle to his long, lean frame while maturing as a player and continue developing his overall game.

Roberts looks to garner more attention from high major program as the recruiting process moves forward.
