The Virginia Tech offense has had plenty of steps forward and steps back this early season. Of course, after the Hokies had just 59 yards passing in the opener against Alabama, there wasn't much room to go but up.
Against East Carolina, it was the running game which had struggled, with just 53 yards rushing. Now, it's about getting both going at the same time.
And for the past few games, it's been the passing game that's made strides. In a rain-soaked win over Marshall, the passing progression wasn't as prevalent, but it's come a long way overall in just a few games.
"With the exception of DJ, we haven't played a lot, so we're not as, especially at the beginning of the season, we weren't as comfortable with the new offense and the new things," redshirt freshman wide receiver Joshua Stanford said. "But we're getting better and looking to get even better than we are now."
