Exactly two weeks from the season-opener against Alabama in Atlanta, a few things are becoming crystal clear: the Virginia Tech defense is one of the best in the country and the offense has a long way to go.
The good thing is there's two weeks to work and improve. The bad news, is there's only two weeks to work and improve.
Even without WHIP linebacker Ronny Vandyke, ruled out for the season with a shoulder injury, the Hokies defense is still an incredibly stout unit, as shown by the eight sacks and three interceptions in the 73 plays of today's scrimmage. Granted, the Crimson Tide offense is a bit different than the Hokies' but the defensive attributes are there.
