New Virginia Tech coach James Johnson has his first new addition to the team.

According to Rivals.com national analyst Eric Bossi, former UNC-Wilmington shooting guard Adam Smith has transferred to Virginia Tech.

Smith, a three-star shooting guard in the class of 2011, will sit out this season and have three years of eligibility remaining.

A 6-foot-1 guard who can also play point guard, Smith averaged over 13 points per game as a freshman this season.

Bossi also wrote this about the Hokies in this week's Around The Nation:

"Class of 2012 four-star big man Montrezl Harrell would like to have his release from Virginia Tech. Currently, the Hokies are refusing to grant it to him. At some point, the Hokies will have to weigh how badly they want Harrell in comparison against how badly refusing to release him could damage future recruiting efforts."
