CougZone Athlete Of The Year Finalist - Derrick Low


His wicked three-pointer was one of the most-feared shot in the conference in 2006-07 Pac-10 season and for good reason - after battling through two seasons of injuries, junior guard Derrick Low was finally healthy and his shot, no longer susceptible to a slowness in delivery due to a healing broken foot, was once again formidable. He used that plus his driving and defensive skills to make life difficult for Cougar opponents and the team leader in minutes played helped lead Wazzu back to the promised land - the Big Dance - in 2007,

With head coach Tony Bennett emphasizing offense slightly more than his father and predecessor Dick Bennett, Low took advantage of that freedom by leading the Cougars in scoring [13.7 points per game] and then also led the team in number of three-point baskets made per game [2.21].
